Studio Log 01/23/2025

Emily Myatt January 23, 2025

I’ve started putting some layers down and removing/adding as I go to reveal the green wash I applied in the beginning. I’m trying to be economical with the amount of information I’m painting in. Areas of blankness need to feel more complex than the other parts (nouns, of the image?)

Notes, Artists I’m thinking about right now.

I think I need to get a tube of cinnabar green after looking at Irisha Pavlenko’s paintings, it’s hard to put into words but they are like how sour warheads taste or how powdered lemonade smells, acidic. Hamid Yaraghchi did a gorgeous series of paintings of figures in garden/foliage spaces. I don’t know how he can make something look voluminous/cylindrical and totally flat at the same time.
